Rocky Neck Art Colony and Ocean Alliance Announces 2025 Environmental Artist Residency: The Ocean School Collective
Gloucester, MA – August 27, 2025– Rocky Neck Art Colony and Ocean Alliance is proud to announce that this year’s Environmental Artist Residency will be filled by the Ocean School Collective, a dynamic local team of artists whose work centers on performance and community engagement.
The Collective includes Rebecca Graham Siswick, Ivana Ustariz, Kate Farrington, Julie Corcoran, and Patricia Tinajero, joined by acclaimed singer-songwriter Hayley Reardon. Together, they bring a multidisciplinary approach to exploring the intersection of art, performance, and the natural world.
The residency will launch with an Introductory Performance-Talk on Thursday, September 4 at 7:00 PM at the Rocky Neck Cultural Center. Unlike a traditional artist talk, this presentation will be active, performative, and immersive setting the tone for the month ahead.
Inspired by Ocean Alliance’s mission and deeply attuned to the movements and songs of whales, the Ocean School Collective describes themselves as an “Expedition Team,” engaging in creative responses to the marine environment.
Throughout September, the artists will be in residence at Ocean Alliance headquarters, offering Open Studio Days on Thursdays, September 11, 18, and 25 from 2:00–4:00 PM, where the public is invited to witness the evolving work firsthand.
The residency will culminate with a Closing Performance on Sunday, September 28 at 2:00 PM at Ocean Alliance, bringing together the month’s discoveries in an inspiring and participatory event.
All events are free and open to the public.
