Don Gorvett is an artist and printmaker known for his large and powerful color woodcuts of maritime and architectural subjects.
The Don Gorvett Gallery in Portsmouth, located in historic downtown Portsmouth, NH, is celebrating 16 years of exhibiting and selling the work of Mr. Gorvett and other nationally known artists and printmakers. The Don Gorvett Gallery Portsmouth continues to be a destination for both local and visiting enthusiasts of Mr. Gorvett’s woodcuts and drawings. The Gallery is open most days, 12-5 pm and appointments are always welcome.
The Don Gorvett Gallery & Studio in Gloucester is located upstairs at the historic Beacon Marine Basin overlooking Gloucester Harbor. Don has relocated his printing press from Portsmouth, NH, in 2020. The Studio and Gallery are open most weekdays from 10 - 2 pm, and weekends by appointment.
About Don Gorvett
Don Gorvett was born in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1949 and raised within its environs of Cambridge and Somerville, Massachusetts. Much of his youth was spent at the seashore or in the harbor, swimming, fishing, and observing fishing-town industry. Don received an extraordinary art education under the tutelage of teacher Elinor Marvin. He moved to Gloucester after graduating from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts to pursue a career in painting and woodcut printmaking. He divided his time between winters in Gloucester and summers in Ogunquit, Maine. In 1990 Don moved to Ogunquit and established his printmaking studio, and in 2006 Don Gorvett opened his first Gallery in Portsmouth, NH., Piscataqua Fine Arts. In 2020
