Music, Theater & Performing Arts
Chorus North Shore is a non-profit, non-audition choral group representing many communities on Boston’s north shore. Started in 1931 during the depression as the Community Carol Choir in Rockport, Massachusetts, and later the Rockport Community Chorus, Chorus North Shore through the years has expanded its repertoire and its mission. Known for innovative programming and quality performances, the chorus attracts leading soloists and musicians to join its performances. Under the leadership of its artistic director and conductor Sonja Dahlgren Pryor, the chorus has developed a rich repertoire of choral masterworks.
In response to a deep dedication to keeping choral music alive for future generations, Chorus North Shore created the Chorus North Shore Honors Youth Choir in 2005. This fully funded youth choir performs their own concerts and is frequently a featured performer in Chorus North Shore concerts.
Today, Chorus North Shore is looking forward to serve the vocal arts on Boston’s north shore. The chorus is committed to its mission “to educate, entertain, and inspire audiences through performances of high artistic quality”, and is always open to welcome new members.
