Explore Cape Ann’s stunning natural resources, presented by local environmental scientist and cartographer, Dr. Kim Frashure. In this engaging talk, Dr. Frashure will unveil a series of original maps that showcase the region’s diverse habitats, changing land use, valuable open spaces and recreational areas, vital hydrological resources, and changes to local shoreline areas. Learn about the art and science of map creation using geographical information systems and discover how these maps can deepen our understanding of Cape Ann’s environment, inspire curiosity, and foster a keen sense of land stewardship. Attendees will gain a new appreciation for the landscapes that define our community.
Dr. Frashure is the Chair and Professor of Environmental Science Department at Bunker Hill Community College, the founder of Geospatial Art Maps, LLC, an Air Force veteran, a proud tribal member of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, and a dedicated resident of Gloucester, Massachusetts.
