Celebrate the opening of Women Artists on Cape Ann 1870-1970, a new special exhibition at the Cape Ann Museum, with a deep dive into the history of women artists from the area.
Cape Ann’s past is full of important artists who have responded both to broad artistic movements and to this region’s specific inspiration. Some helped to create the Cape Ann art colony, which was then fully developed by the later arrivals. Many of these artists’ works are represented in museums and collections around the world.
The Color of Light is a series of videos exploring the works of many of these Cape Ann artists, telling their stories, and making certain that their influence and significance endures. The series includes videos of Anna Coleman Ladd, Emma Fordyce Macrae, Theresa Bernstein, Helen Stein, Mary Shore, Nell Blaine, and Barbara Swan.
