Greenbelt’s Film and Lecture Series: Author Hannah Kimberley, of Gloucester, discusses her book about Annie Smith Peck, a scholar, writer, mountain climber, suffragette, and political activist. “Peck was one of the most accomplished women of the twentieth century that I had never heard of,” writes Kimberley. When Peck climbed to the summit of the Matterhorn in 1895, the focus of the public was not on her accomplishment, but whether or not she should be arrested for wearing pants on the climb.
