SUMMARY:Cyanotype Sun Mural Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join fine art photographer and arts educator Patricia Scialo to design and create a series of Cyanotype Sun Murals using local maritime and natural objects for installation in the White-Ellery House. Scialo has received several awards and fellowships for her work in alternative processes in photography. Her artwork has been exhibited at art centers on the east coast and internationally. \n\nUsing the historic photographic process of cyanotype sun printing\, participants will meet at the Cape Ann Museum Green to craft designs and will arrange found objects pulled from Gloucester's maritime industry with natural plant materials for inclusion on the fabric mural. Once the design is complete\, the group will spread the light sensitive fabric in the sun with the materials laid out for exposure. Participants are welcome to join hands on the fabric during the exposure and watch the exciting development process that takes place in running water! \n\nThis project is inspired by The Legacy of the Family-Owned Fishing Vessel\, a special exhibition exploring the important heritage of the family-owned commercial fishing vessel on display at the Main Campus. The mural will be on display in Global Unity: Cyanotypes at the White-Ellery House from July 15 - 17.?The installation will be open to the public from 11:00 am 4:00 pm on Friday\, July 15 and Saturday\, July 16 and from 1:00 pm 4:00 pm on Sunday\, July 17. \n\nThe rain date for this workshop is Tuesday\, July 12 from 12:00 3:00 pm
